An Announcement from Mark Smith, Iowa Democratic Party Chair

Dear Iowa Democratic Leader,

Today, I am announcing a postponement of County Conventions to a future date to be determined. Attached is the full statement I am sending out.

First, I want to express my gratitude for our conversations over the last week. They were constructive, forward-looking, and showed our resolve to overcome obstacles together.

I cannot express how much I appreciate your patience as we move this process forward. Today and over the weekend, we are continuing our considerations on next steps, which include ongoing consultation with public health experts, legal advisors, and the DNC. We will be as transparent as possible throughout this process and provide updates as soon as possible.

Lastly, as we discussed on the calls last night, the IDP is here to serve as a resource for you through this process. In order to do that in the most efficient way, please review this form to address any of your needs as we work together to ensure a smooth process.

Thank you, and will be in touch.

-Mark Smith

Emmet County Democrats Volunteer During Gold Star Memorial Dedication

Emmet County Democratic Party Members

This Saturday, several members of the Emmet County Democratic Party participated in the statewide Democratic Party “Day of Action” by volunteering during the Gold Star Memorial Dedication in Estherville. The event recognized local Gold Star families whose loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The Emmet County Democratic Party extends its thanks and gratitude to the Estherville VFW for the opportunity to volunteer during the event.

Join us for our Day of Action this Saturday!

The Emmet County Democratic Party is planning a Day of Action this Saturday, June 15th.

First, the Gold Star Memorial Dedication will be held Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2019 at 2:00pm. We will volunteer for the event in whatever capacity we can, whether directing participants or cleaning up after the event. If you desire to participate — and we hope you will — please arrive between 1:30pm and 1:45pm at the Memorial, which is located 1803 Central Avenue in Estherville. In a show of solidarity, please wear blue.

Second, following the Gold Star Memorial dedication, there will be a potluck social gathering at the home of Evie Deutschmann. Her address is 726 North 13th Street in Estherville. Although hot dogs and buns will be provided, please bring something to share.

We hope you can make it to give back to our community and to socialize with some friends. We look forward to seeing you this Saturday!
